This mission is a Falklands War 1982 sandbox, where Argentina has fully established the occupation of the Falkland Islands. British forces are at pre landing / early landings stage of operations. Ships and ground units are roughly in correct historical positions around the battle zone. It has an analogous layout, including unit types and names, obviously limited by the map and assets currently available in DCS World.

Most major combatant units are represented for both sides (so far as DCS can allow) such as ships helicopters, planes, ground units, AA, SAMs, vehicles and missiles. The layout of the Falkland Islands is portrayed using the east coast of Crimea and the Taman Peninsula of Russia, the Kerch Strait therefore plays the role of the Falkland Sound which is the sea divide between the east and west Falklands islands. Basic way-points take client aircraft to the key objective airfields only, as the area of operations is small.

28 May 1982. Operation Sutton - the ground offensive to retake the Falkland Islands has been running for 15 hours. You are part of VIXEN, a flight of up to 4 Sea Harriers stationed onboard HMS Hermes. You have been at 5 minutes readiness to scramble the whole day, but the terrible weather conditions have made flying impossible - much to yours and the ground troops frustration. An urgent call has come in from the 2nd Parachute Regiment (2 PARA). They are attacking Goose Green and have come under intense artillery fire. In addition, the Argentine defenders are using their 20mm and 35mm air defence guns as heavy machine guns. The Paras are pinned down and need air support now! Fortunately, the weather has just changed, and, in a risky move, HMS Hermes has been brought to within 70nm of East Falklands to reduce your flight time.

This is an updated version of my fictitious livery for the CVN 75 USS Harry S Truman in honour of HRH Prince Philip who recently passed away.  Prince Philip had a long history with the Royal Navy and I was working on a fictituous UK livery for the super carrier when he passed away so decided to name it after him. I've put his crest within the standard Royal Navy ensignia template and put these throughout the boat, including on the catapults.

This new version has been updated to make the deck colour scheme as similar as possible to the real life HMS Ark Royal R09 Audacious class carrier. The Royal Navy flag sails from the mast with the Uni on partially painted on the Stern. The boats number is now in royal gold.

To install, unzip the file to your Saved Games/DCS/Liveries/CVN_75/CVN_75 Prince Philip.

To use, sel ect CVN 75 in Mission Editor and change the skin / livery to "HMS Prince Philip".

The boat's hull has been painted navy white in contrast with the extra dark deck (with a slightly lighter tone for the landing strip). The Royal Navy flag sails from the mast with the Union partially painted on the Stern. The boats number is now in royal gold. Finally, I cleaned up some of the super carrier's deck's decal template so there aren't as many hard lines.

To install, unzip the file to your Saved Games/DCS/Liveries/CVN_75/CVN_75 Prince Philip.

To use, sel ect CVN 75 in Mission Editor and change the skin / livery to "HMS Prince Philip".
